And let us be together tonight
Zevon is famous for his wit, sarcasm, and for his “dirty life and times”. As successful as he was as an artist, he left a trail of disasters in his personal life. Divorce, drug and alcohol dependence, missing father, paternity suits and more fill a long list of failures.
This album, and the one to follow, “The Wind”, form a public acknowledgement of his failures and a view to his real self. Zevon summed-up his talent very well when he observed,
“I wrote my songs despite the fact that I was a drunk, not because of it.”
